I'd say, for one, don't bother too much because as MIDI source it works like a charm before attacking Logic's input...perhaps a faster and more effective analyser would make the difference in accuracy for unexperienced singers

Latest update from the dev
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ev ... ect_update
is basically a lot of navel-gazing pap about the creative process and how he hopes to possibly, maybe, perhaps, potentially have a new, sub 1.0 point release ready at some point, sort of soon, can't say quite when as after all we can't rush genius can we?
I hereby apologise for having started this thread. Hope I'll be proven wrong. But for now I think he's a charlatan.
We're all bound by caveat emptor. Nonetheless, I feel bad for any role I might have played in anyone else wasting their money on this.

Already forgot about it, and the money I spent.
Waiting for a VST, waiting, waiting... A post every quarter but nothing worth the money I lost. Simple things like remembering I/O between sessions not working (does not require genius to implement)...
Ah, it was my fault, not yours

So is there nothing we can do about it at this point? It's strange that someone gets to be a serial non-Kickstarter like this guy.

Yeah, sometime the market's Invisible Hand ain't all it's cracked up to be.Uncle E wrote: It's strange that someone gets to be a serial non-Kickstarter like this guy.
Probably nothing we can do at this point. Except maybe egg his house. He lives somewhere in Iowa. I know someone with a car. Who's with me?

Look, it is a great idea and a pretty cool proof-of-concept if nothing else.lingyai wrote:Latest update from the dev ... is basically a lot of navel-gazing pap about the creative process and how he hopes to possibly, maybe, perhaps, potentially have a new, sub 1.0 point release ready at some point, sort of soon, can't say quite when as after all we can't rush genius can we?
Did you see his June update where he unironically says this as if it's something worth mentioning: "I took some time to make extensive notes about each of my projects."
This guy is a hardcore procrastinator, but he hasn't realized it yet. As a result he hasn't figured out any tools he can use to combat his innate instinct to put things off.

I fully agree, it's a great idea -- that's why I started the thread -- and a cool proof of concept.UltimateOutsider wrote:Look, it is a great idea and a pretty cool proof-of-concept if nothing else.lingyai wrote:Latest update from the dev ... is basically a lot of navel-gazing pap about the creative process and how he hopes to possibly, maybe, perhaps, potentially have a new, sub 1.0 point release ready at some point, sort of soon, can't say quite when as after all we can't rush genius can we?

But he gave no sign when he was asking for money that this was soooo very far from fruition, and that he had yet to even choose which of the forking paths whose existence he's only revealed after the fund-raising closed. I wasn't wittingly paying for a proof-of-concept or the guy's personal development. I was paying -- I thought -- for a tool I could actually use.
Had it been me, before passing the hat, I'd have either waited until I was much more sure I could deliver, or caveated things much more explicitly.
End of the day, I didn't cough up all that much money in the scheme of things, and not having the product hasn't kept me from making music (and has in fact spurred me to learn to get pretty handy with non-realtime voice-to-midi with Melodyne.)
Whether he's merely a procrastinator or a sham, time will tell.
Maybe we should unleash jancivil on him.

Option C: both. This is his second time doing it on Kickstarter. I'm surprised Kickstarter doesn't have a screening process for people like this.lingyai wrote:Whether he's merely a procrastinator or a sham, time will tell.

Careful visiting his website. It kicks up a malicious payload warning here.
