No it is actually quite flexible. I like it for percussive sounds.

I was just checking the Aly James website and noticed the V2 upgrade page, where it says:
"As a VSDSX version 1 owner you got € 15 EUR off! which was the minimum amount of donation for VSDSX v1.
It means that you can get the pack for a wooping € 30 EUR including the dedicated ClapTrap plugin! so check out the new features below."
While I like to support small developers, I find the pricing a bit odd. He says the minimum donationware amount was 15 euros, which means, 95% have paid just that. So, version 1 was effectively 15 euros, and the upgrade is 30 euros. Usually the upgrade is cheaper than the original version (if not free, which I am not suggesting, though). I doubt a lot of people who bought V1 like me will upgrade at that price. The fact that he has bundled a clap thingy doesn't change that. He should offer the clap plugin separately and reduce the price of the V2 upgrade. Not least since V2 also has built-in claps now:
"New additional CLAP voice closely based on the iconic Simmons Digital ClapTrap from 1982 with additional controls and modulation capabilities"
I know he is not a native speaker, but instinctively he got it right when he referred to the price as whopping (despite the typo)

Inspired by listening to too much 80's songs, I have overhauled my old Sylenth1 Simmons toms today, I think they sound much more realistic now compared to the old link

And a slightly fatter version with chorus:

The main parameters for customizing the patch to your liking are:
Mod Env 1: Decay and Release
Mod Env 2: Decay and Release
Osc A1: Volume
