When I realized I'd been using LoopBe1 for… well, practically forever, I went ahead and paid for the 30-port version. Mr. Schmitt deserves it. Never had a problem with it, though IIRC there was a time it worked only on 32-bit systems (I could be wrong about that).
Tried CopperLAN but I could never get it to work. Probably my fault, insufficient patience. It's a marvelous project too.

It seems the only downside with LoopBe is that you cannot give the virtual ports a own name. In theory it should be also more performant because its a kernel level driver?

Ok, I've also installed CopperLan... It's a bit like a "set and forget" app because it runs as a service in the background so it's always "ready to use". It provides virtual midi ports and a midi router so it doesn't need another app. Its free and goes up to 32 virtual ports. Nice!
