Humm, darn, you are right. But still, I don't find the iTunes software bloated at all. It runs without much problems on both machines I own. Haven't tried on my notebook yet.

It's interesting to see that nobody is talking about sound quality...

About a month ago I helped my girlfriend's brother choose a good pair of earphones for his brand new stainless steel iTouch. It's very pretty and the interface is really cool. But the sound sucks! The same goes for the few iPods I had a chance to sample before.

Was this regardless of the volume without music playing or with music playing?

When I tried the iTouch there was noise as soon as I plugged-in my earphones, with no music playing. I was stunned. I mean, that thing is not exactly cheap... I have a pair of Etymotics ER-4P which are pretty good in-ear earphones. When at the store I got to try some top-of-the-line Shures. Same thing. My iRiver sounded better and the my gf's Samsung, too.

In the end he settled for a pair of medium priced Denons. He loves his iTouch and he was happy with those earphones. That's the important thing. But I'm still happy with my iRiver...

I've seen several reviews (CNet and others) where iPod and iTouch poor sound quality is discussed. I'm only surprised that on a site dedicated to music nobody seems to notice.

I've had 2 other mp3 players and my iPod video sounds way better. Also, my other 2 players never seemed to be loud enough in the car where as I can only play my iPod at about half volume in the car or it's too loud to think..

Just sayin'... And also, I haven't tried the new iPod touch, just the iPod video, though it's surprising to me there would be that much of a difference in sound quality.
