I started on Logic 5 with a PowerBook G4 550Mhz. I now have a MacBook Air M1 and it's ~165x faster! So, why is my music not proportionally better?

In 2014 it was a dream to have and understand Zebra. Just picked up Zebra 2 Legacy for a song. Understand it thoroughly now. I could be set for a long while. Love Podolski as well. Ythe OSC for Podolski was amazing.syntonica wrote: ↑Wed Jul 19, 2023 6:30 pmIt was last updated in 2021. Now, you have a choice: Podoldki 2 or Zebra 3. I still believe Fathom at its present state has a lot to offer. The FM capabilities alone are fantastic. I would argue that for long evolving pads it may be the best out there.

On the Fathom banks page, the Solidtrax demo near the top has a crisper sound than most of the other demos. Is this because it was made in Fathom Vector and the others were made in Fathom Pro?

It's a demo for the Trance Warehouse preset bank which is available in both versions.

no sound difference between vector and Pro, it is only about CPU efficiency

True, pro and vector have the same exact sound engine. Vector just has the intel AVX2 parallel processing. The reason the Solidtrax demo sounds crisper and better is because they are professional mixers. Also he has been using Fathom for years and knows how to make it sound great.

Thanks, all. I see. So the difference isn’t because of the Metamorphic Oscillator? Or is that available in the Pro version, too?

Oh, sorry I forgot, good point. Fathom Vector has the metamorphic oscillator and Pro does not. There are actually a lot of parameters in that oscillator alone which are only in Vector not in Pro such as spectral modulation and more extensive phase modulation. I think this is the official complete list of differences between Pro and Vector ...

I'm a bit confused. I've ended up with all these DLLs, and I'm not sure what all of them are, and which ones I really need.
I'm thinking I only need Vector which will cover everything, but I'd still like to know for sure what each one is.
Fathom.dll
FathomFX.dll
FathomMono64.dll (obvious)
FathomProAVX1.dll
FathomVector.dll (obvious)
Also, Fathom Vector VST2 is listed in reaper as Fathom and not Fathom Vector, whereas VST3 is listed as Fathom Vector.

I only have FathomFX and FathomVector in my VST2 and VST3 folders, as a Fathom Vector user.
Fathom.dll (would be Fathom pro)
FathomMono64.dll (The free mono one?)
FathomProAVX1.dll (Fathom pro with AVX1 support)
You are correct about Fathom Vector VST2 listed as Fathom.
Seems to be an error in the naming of that compiled version.

Ah, OK thanks, I didn't realize that Pro with AVX1 support was a thing, but I suppose you only get it if you buy Vector.

If you bought Fathom Vector you only need FathomVector.dll and FathomFX.dll.

So is Fathom still being developed? Last version was released in first half of 2022, forum is not working on official site.

Yes Fathom is still an active project. We are working on a new sound engine, analog emulator, full sampler and completely new modern GUI which will all be released in a few months, probably some time in 2024.
