Presswerk "adapt" knob and the line to the release knob

Hi,
I can't find in the manual if we have to set the "realease" knob precisely to the level where there is a line to the "adapt" knob if we want this "adapt" to make is job ?
The line drawn between the two knobs confuses me.

The line only signifies that Adapt applies to Release, nothing more.
(I can understand that it could be confusing, especially as the line appears to connect precisely to the ~600ms 'pip'!)
