I am not even interested in this enough to beta test it, guess I'll just get it when its done as I have an active plan, but not very interesting and I wont use the compressor or EQs at at all (I am a Fabfilter guy). I am probably on my own but I think from this is the most disappointing up date so far (and I have been around since V1). I am TBH loosing interest a bit of interest in Btwig and drifting back to L12...
X32 Desk, i9 PC, S49MK2, Studio One, BWS, Live 12. PUSH 3 SA, Osmose, Summit, Pro 3, Prophet8, Syntakt, Digitone, Drumlogue, OP1-F, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Nord Drum3P, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

Fair enough but I thought you were already back to live because Push 3.

I use both....use to be 80/20 Bigwig to Live, now probably more the other way (I use Live in PUSH 3 standalone mode a lot just to get away from the computer). I am however a fickle beast, if Bigwig had added the things I am looking for or even something fun I would have used it more- as it is I currently prefer L12 on Balance.

This is a very small update and I doubt it will attract any new users who were not interest in Bitwig before, but people who already own Bitwig may have wanted a new compressor and eq...who knows, just not for me.

This new update comforts me in my decision to leave Bitwig

That's a really nice update!

Yeah, I think it’s a really good update. Looking forward to the new mixing devices and especially the precision editing.

I wonder if they started adding more analog-inspired devices henceforth - that would be nice.

The editing stuff is a welcome addition. For example, you can select an audio event in a clip in arrange and split it into a separate clip without going into the editor.

I haven't tried it yet, but I'm excited by the ability to extract the tempo from an audio file and apply it to the project... that's one of my top 3 wished for features.

The new GUI rendering will benefit everyone. The GUI is snappier and is sharper in a bunch of places. Haven't done any comparisons, but there will be more CPU for audio since the GUI is moved to the GPU.

The most useful for me is plugin undo. Still waiting for midi comping before using my already bought upgrade plan.

Well I've only been using Bitwig since v5.1 and as a person who's used Pro Tools for 25+ years this update almost seems tailor made to turn me into a full blown fanatical Bitwig fanboy. The editing improvements are MASSIVE for workflow. Alot of this new keyboard editing stuff comes straight from Pro Tools and I cannot emphasize enough how fast and precise this makes editing in Bitwig vs 5.1. It's still missing a few massive things like group editing, shuffle, strip silence, and some other things, but this update is HUGE in the evolution of Bitwig in the editing department. The editing stuff may not seem that shiny or new but these improvements are actually massive in catching Bitwig up to traditional DAWS.

The GPU acceleration is also a biggie. Now your CPU is 100% dedicated to processing audio and Bitwig will remain super responsive in heavy sessions.

The new devices are just the cherry on top. I'm excited to test the clipper and how it's aliasing is.

Of course there are still things missing in Bitwig. This is 5.2 after all, just a beta, and not 6.0. Great update IMO. The stuff in here may not seem shiny and new, but it's actually really great stuff that was needed.

Cheers

The new devices sound pretty good imo, and I’m glad they finally shipped the gpu update. Hopefully now they can focus on other things.

So the gui lag in large sessions is one of the reasons I didn’t like bitwig. Unfortunately I think I just love logic too much to switch back. But I’m going to test the new eqs and comp modes and see what I think. This makes me personally very excited for whenever we see 6. Always love to support bitwig even if it isn’t my daw of choice. They are one of the few brands in audio that always tries to push new creative things and there’s nothing but respect from me about that.

Hope the bitwig community has a lot of fun with this.

Well... not shipped yet... just Beta 1. With such a core change, I suspect there will be a fair number of bugs and that the beta period will be on the longer side.
