Anyone have this, esp. with a Mac? It's on sale, my birthday is about a month away.
Interested in hearing your experiences with this software.
Thanks!

I *do* have the MAC . Just joining this convo because I'm eyeing that same deal - it's a very good deal! Though still prohibitively priced to the paupers like me. The functionality looks tempting. The sampleset is huuuuge. If I can't pull it off, I want to be here vicariously LOL - do you mind if I watch..... from the closet...?

It can't be beat for the money, bar none.
The main things to look out for:
a) it's a behemoth. Needs 1TB.
b) it's inconsistent and awkward in its CC implementation and stuff like ninente which I hate (when minimum velocity goes to silence). I have it set up great in a template, but it can be daunting to get it all going.
c) strings and brass are the strongest elements.
The Opus player works well.

Thx, yeah. I'm also looking at a 4 TB drive for it and about 1 TB of other stuff.

I can see a use for the ninente though - to make some instruments magically appear out of nowhere in subsequent iterations of the theme. Can you set a curve that prevents going all the way to silence?
Though I do wish it had a longer timeline, or alternate snapshots selectable on-the-fly. Thanks for that info!

I'd use an audio fader to take it to silence!Protocol_b wrote: ↑Thu Apr 11, 2024 6:07 pm I can see a use for the ninente though - to make some instruments magically appear out of nowhere in subsequent iterations of the theme. Can you set a curve that prevents going all the way to silence?
I use Cubase's midi transfomer to limit the minimum CC1 to 10.

Ah, got it - good call on the midi transformer. I always forget about the multiple approaches one can use with a DAW, as I'm so focused on live usage, so I'm limited as to the number of controllers I can physically manipulate at a time.

I'll just mention it since I'm assuming you're looking for an orchestral sample library, if you are, you can check out Musio 1 as well which is on sale right now for $200... controls are much more simple than Opus for now, but it's got orchestra, choirs, and more... ultimately of course it's a matter of taste, thankfully both EastWest and Musio have free trials.

Disagreeing with myself as I forgot Musio 1 is stupid cheap. Certainly not like-for-like, but both excellent options where you get a lot more than you pay for.

Here is what I wrote about the product, and the EW in general, few weeks ago:

Thanks. Interesting.
Musio 1 is on sale until today, as far as I've read. There's also content there I don't need. I simply want a good orchestral library at a reasonable price point.
In thinking this out, if I did get EW Hollywood orchestra, my cost would be around 600€ when I factor in the storage. I like the idea of the Orchestrator. Not going to make any snap decisions.

I took the bait. It downloaded all night. I'm going in. If I don't make it out, send an extraction team.

Musio doesn't see my keyboard in the standalone. Seems to work in Logic. I looked it up, and there is nothing there to set it up. Maybe it's because I'm on Monterey.
