My mate lives in an other country, we like to make music together. We are using Skype and Teamviewer at the moment but we can't figure out to stream our main output to each other. Chaining the mic in teamviewer does not work because our daw has the habbit to "own" the asio-driver and not allowing other programs to use it. help please

Depending on what kind of music you're doing, NinJam can work really well for this. There are quite a few limitations, however, and if you're not technical then you will have to use a public server which makes it even more limiting.
It's not hard to setup a private server. I've done it and used it to play a show in another country, but if you don't know linux it's probably not a great choice for you. I'm only mentioning it for completeness.

Yes, "it depends" is a good answer .
Jamulus lets you plug in ASIO outputs (using JACK's ASIO adapter) on Windows and then stream that audio in network-delayed real time, allowing others to stream their audio back and have you mix it (and maybe record the mix). If you're not after not quite real time interaction, it's not what you want, of course.

No doubt, it's not a general solution at all. However, not everything mentioned will work cleanly over the internet in all cases. Most IP->IP connections are going to require holes punched in firewalls on both ends.pljones wrote:Yes, "it depends" is a good answer .

There used to be a couple of services that attempted to do some kind of real time interaction, but I'm not sure how well they worked or how they dealt with the significant latency problem?
