Well - I got a new usb elicenser and installed and activated Artist 8.5. I was going to wait like was suggested earlier, but you know how that goes.
Guess I'll just pay up when 9 comes out.
I dug out that one old, broken usb elicenser I have, squeezed it real hard and got it to light up when plugged in long enough to see
that it was SX-1 and AI 5 or 6 that was on there. Guess I don't really need that one anymore.
Maybe I should mail it back to them - LOL
I've still got the full version of 5 on another usb elicenser, in case I ever need it, or decide that I've just got to upgrade
to another full version. Maybe 9 will be the last chance to go up from 5 - IDK
Things sure have changed since I started with 2 on Atari in about 1990. Anyone else remember this?:

Just a heads up on this deal I ran across: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/daw-soft ... xsl-sequel
It's an upgrade to Pro 8.5 from stuff going way back, from entry level to higher versions, for a very decent price - $269.99.
"...Steinberg Cubase Pro 8.5 - Update from Cubase LE/AI 4/5/6/7/8, Essential, Elements, Studio, SX, SL, Sequel ..."
For all those people who bought UR's and stuff, or LE/AI, Essential users, going back to SX and so on, who would like to get the
top of the line for a blowout like price.
Of course, there will be another version coming out before too long - but still....

Today the last day to get the 40% discount. Last year it was 30% http://www.steinberg.net/en/landing_pag ... offer.html
I couldn't resist upgrading a Cubase AI license to Cubase Pro. So I did. Best DAW for me.

Hi, does this work with digital purchases /Steinberg online shop as well or only with boxed versions? thanksants13 wrote:I've got the upgrade but I won't register it, simply because they normally release the next version around winter time so I'm expecting cubase 9 before Christmas.
When it gets announced I'll register my licence and get a grace period upgrade to v9 and be able to use 8.5 as well.
That's my plan, I can wait for December, if it isn't released by next year then I may rethink.

Hello,
Best regards,

Yes, it doesn't matter, it works for all products, as you will also receive an activation code, what is important is the activation date.Septimon wrote:Hi, does this work with digital purchases /Steinberg online shop as well or only with boxed versions? thanksants13 wrote:I've got the upgrade but I won't register it, simply because they normally release the next version around winter time so I'm expecting cubase 9 before Christmas.

wow, thanks Guillermo, that was quick. So you officially endorse this method? good to know, I don't have to feel guilty for "cheating".

Hello,
Best regards,
GN
We offer a grace period upgrade, that usually it is activated a couple of weeks before the release of any new product, if you are within this period of time it is completely ok, it is not "cheating" at all.Septimon wrote:wow, thanks Guillermo, that was quick. Do you mean a couple of MONTHS before? I think Cubase grace periods have been within a couple of months of the new item coming out, no?Guillermo Navarrete wrote:Hello,

you can find that information here: http://www.steinberg.net/en/support/grace_period.htmligoramos wrote:So, if I were to go from Artist 8.5 to Pro 8.5, would a grace period policy cover this kind of upgrade as well to Pro 9?

I've already been to that page. My question is kind of a pre-sales question since I haven't actually upgraded to Cubase Pro from Artist yet. The answer will help me decide but it appears I have to purchase the upgrade to Pro, activate it, then enter my license number to see if I qualify for the grace period. In general, do Artist to Pro upgrades (not talking about right this minute) qualify for Grace Period the same as Pro to Pro upgrades?Guillermo Navarrete wrote:Hello,

I should ad that the reason I wonder is that I see upgrades from Pro to Pro on Guitar Center and Musician's Friend with free updates to Cubase 9, but I don't see those offers from Artist to Pro...
thank you!
