IT is normally only $50, but seeing how I will just play with it, maybe rewire it, I'd love to get it cheaper.

And saying that, does anyone have opinions on Reason Essentials 8? It seems an interesting way to get an option to check out Re format too.

$50 is fantastic value
Included in the full NNXT sampler and Subtractor, there are no limits on audio or instrument tracks.
Seeing how dirt cheap Rack Extensions have become, users can add to the basics by for example picking up a decent FM synth like FM4 for $19, effects like Synchronous for $25 and Polar for just $9 and polysynth Blackpole for $19

It really is a good option for an older machine, I am assuming Reason is still as svelte as ever, right? I have an old Core2 Duo in the corner I might have to try and resuscitate. Would it run on a 2008 MacBook?Numanoid wrote:$50 is fantastic value

I would try out the demo before making that decision if using it on older machines.
When it comes to OSX, it is a question if it will work as good as it should on older release versions like Leopard/Snow Leopard

Yeah, 10.5.8, so I'm out, at least on using it with that old brick.
Mac OS X 10.7 or later

At the moment you can pick up PX7 at $49 and Parsec at $59, that is dirt cheap if you ask me:

Does anyone use any REs rewired to their DAW? I'm just wondering how many cool little toys I may be missing.

as long as you realise all rewire goes on one core, then yes it works very well.
In the past I rewired about 16 tracks from reason using a mix of factory instruments and Re fx going into logic - stable as anything and I had each output going to it's own rewire input so i could further process the stems in Logic.
Basically when props gets around to making rewire multi processor aware, reason in combo with a rewire host will be a very formidable combo. Just right now you need to be aware of the core limitation but you can still get heaps done. If you use factory instruments and effects you can do a 64 track production easily on an i7 then still have 7 threads left (assuming 4 core 8 thread) for all your host daw stuff

I'd probably usually use it for one instrument at a time, so that's not really a problem.

An Essential license is bundled with Korg Nanokontrol, and probably other cheap korg controllers. Sale prices $40 and up...etcbraj wrote:IT is normally only $50, but seeing how I will just play with it, maybe rewire it, I'd love to get it cheaper.
The download .zip expands to 2.4 gig,

Buy a blackFriday korg, and enjoy the rest of the bundle:
AAS Lounge Lizard 4
AAS Strum Accoustic Session
AAS Ultra Analog Session

NanoKontrol is a compact and nice way to midi-learn
some new synths, run the transport etc

That's actually Limited, I own that, it doesn't have Re support, so you can't add to the limited instruments and effects. It is still incredible for basically free though. I bought my nanoKontrol2 years ago but I still was able to use my code and get the current stuff.glokraw wrote:An Essential license is bundled with Korg Nanokontrol, and probably other cheap korg controllers.
