A new voice, Voder, was recently added to Chipspeech. It is always fun to see Chipspeech library grow with more content.
Has there been any progress on licensing the right to use the samples from Chrysler’s Electronic Voice Alert system?
Also, has there been any recent interest in adding a new voice to Chipspeech based on output from the Toshiba T6721A chip? The Commodore Magic Voice module had a pleasant sounding female voice and the voices created for the Gorf and Wizard of Wor cartridges sounded really neat, too.

haven't tried the new voice, yet, but have downloaded and installed it.
i get weird behavior with chipspeech in connection to my zaquencers, though... I've tried using the lyric line CC (2, I believe it is) with one of the CC lanes of the zaquencer.
It kind of works, but only momentarily. When it receives e.g. CC2 value 1 it (talking from memory here) switches to the second lyric line briefly, but then switches back to the very first.
it may be the way the zaq sends the CC, I am not quite sure. for each of the 32 steps on the zaq I can set the CC value from 'off' over to 0-127. So I would have thought that sending the correct voice line CC value once and setting the following steps to 'off' would result in chipspeech staying at the specified lyric.
Alas, it does not.
Might try with sugarbytes' thesys to see if it works there, but it's a really fiddly plugin to set a specific CC value GUI-wise...
I think I'll link Christian from zaqaudio to this thread...
edit: i must have been doing something wrong, but not sure what. i've tried it again as described above and it works fine...

No and TBH an incomplete phoneme set it would be a bad version of the current Terminal99 voice. The fun thing would have been to add the data files to the circuit bending section. But once the files in MAME are in every rom site out there you'll just have to drag them over chipspeech and it will import them ( I made sure of ittonedef71 wrote: Has there been any progress on licensing the right to use the samples from Chrysler’s Electronic Voice Alert system?
Yeah we started a preliminary version of that. Getting rights to anything Commodore is unthinkable. AFAIK there are 3 companies that think they own the brand and assets. Note the voice itself is not that interesting sonically, also downplaying my interest.tonedef71 wrote: Also, has there been any recent interest in adding a new voice to Chipspeech based on output from the Toshiba T6721A chip? Lots of different events can change the current line: CC2, program change and the lowest two midi octaves. In some condition the transport state as well iirc.fabi wrote: edit: i must have been doing something wrong, but not sure what. i've tried it again as described above and it works fine...
The only to trace it is to insert a MIDI monitor in between the DAW and the plugin, something that is clearly not available in all.

I’m so excited about the Voder! I’ve always wondered why no one made a software recreation of that system. Obviously the physical interface of the original is not conducive to a software version, but I’m sure you’ve made an excellent implementation. I’m looking forward to downloading and playing with it this weekend!
Incomplete list of my gear: 1/8" audio input jack.

Whatever it was, it's gone now, which is a good thing.davidv@plogue wrote:Lots of different events can change the current line: CC2, program change and the lowest two midi octaves. Tried out Voder in the meantime and quite like it. Nice update!

Thank you for the update! How can I learn more about importing applicable roms from MAME into Chipspeech? Will this only work for the EVA roms?davidv@plogue wrote:No and TBH an incomplete phoneme set it would be a bad version of the current Terminal99 voice.
