I wouldn't play for this low kind of money. Calvin did it right, for over 60 millions

I saw Calvin live once, it wasn't very good, and Hobbes wasn't even there.

My question to my fellow KVRians is HOW EXACTLY.
Is this from:
1). Album sales
2). Live gigs being a DJ/whatever
3). T-shirts/coffee mugs/underwear
Which of these is the highest percentage of his annual income? You can't just become rich off of one single or two, right?

1. Probably around 1% - I mean, everyone downloads or streams, right? Licensing deals might boost the figures a bit.keyman_sam wrote:1). Album sales

2. 98.5% - guys like this are paid stupid money for each performance, and if they have a residency at one one of the major clubs (Vegas, Ibizia) they'll pull in millions from a run of a few weeks.
3. People buy EDM t-shirts? Well, I guess someones mom thought it would make a nice present for little Jimmy
That pretty much sums it up ... no, it's not a joke ...

A single night will earn these "top-tier" DJs 6 digits. A while back someone posted to mention that Tietso was paid a million bucks for a single festival performance.
Something I posted earlier in the thread.

Is it any wonder kids aspire to be like these guys?ZenPunkHippy wrote:Indeed, some people go much further than Moffitt in describing EDM's impact on Vegas: in a feature in the New Yorker last year, one promoter claimed that casino magnate Steve Wynn had made so much money from the four nightclubs in his Vegas resorts that even gambling was now a mere "amenity".
Think about that for a moment

All I need is the in road. The big break. Glory will be mine. Scoffers will choke on their own lack of belief. In ME!.
And all the kids did dance.
Lo and behold.
And all the kids were off their little nuts
Go figure.
I was the greatest.
I came.
I played.
I got paid.
I drove around in stretch limo.
We threw rotten fruit at the beggers in the street.
And called them peasants.
We sniffed coke off the back of porn queen's assholes.
It tasted funny.
We did it anyway.
We were like the new Arabs.
My Grandfather rode a camel.
My Father drove a car.
I ride in a jet plane.
My Son will ride a camel...
My Grandfather played the phonogram
My Father played the cassette.
I pretend to cue up CDs (it's really a DAT playing)
My Son will...
Of f**k it Sheila! Bring that shit back....

It's really bizarre to me. I don't have an inherent problem with "dj's" but the fact that they are making that kinda coin is not sitting well. I saw parts of Cochella and the headliner was some dj... . I think the SNL skit says it best.
Anyways, more power to 'em, they are living their dream.

I made 10 cents last year. Who's going to make a thread worshipping MY actions?
