Audio Damage removed their DRM

VST, AU, AAX, CLAP, etc. Plugin Virtual Effects Discussion

Apparently I wasn't the only one having trouble with it. I could never get EOS to run, and I gave up on it in the end, cut my losses and forgot about it. But now they've stripped the DRM, it works fine (I just had to remove it from Cubase's blacklist and redownload the new version).

They're also having a sale until tomorrow.

Weird. I never even realized they used DRM; I thought it was just a serial. I guess it worked transparently for me.

They have done some bugfixing as part of the DRM removal update as well, IIRC. Changelogs were floating around somewhere - check the AD product feed RSS.

Yeah, I was surprised when I got the email.. never had an issue, just copy-and-pasted the serial and Everything Just Worked.

Might as well redownload everything and reinstall, though.

it was for AU versions because of Logic being sandboxed. I'm on PC and noticed with Replicant (finally bought this past weekend) there was no need to paste the reg. code so i guess it was done to both platforms.

The DRM email was news to me ... never had any problems with AD plugins. Nice discount atm, but I already have most of their stuff. Don't really fancy the chorus' or Ratshack Reverb.

Which, ironically, has now been shelved apparently (after the mess it made of Garageband X)

Wow that's good news, where did you hear that?

Here in a thread somewhere.

DRM Removal Machine!
As many of you know, we are removing the DRM from our product line, because it causes support headaches, and punishes customers that have purchased our products, while doing little to alleviate piracy. Many of the most popular products have already received this treatment, and during the course of the year, we will be updating our entire product line to do outstanding bug fixes and remove the DRM from the installers. Keep an eye on the Audio Damage RSS Feed to be informed as each product is updated.

I've always had serial # copy protection for Audio Damage plugins, even when they went 64bit. When exactly did DRM start?

DRM is their fancy name for serial number copy protection. They removed all copy protection from their plugins.

I don't see how this could be called "DRM". It's hardly even a copy protection...
I bought BigSeq2 yesterday, and they gave me a serial. Haven't installed it though.

That's what they call it. I had a discussion with them on their blog about this decision so I am sure they are removing all copy protection.

I haven't reinstalled my AD plugins yet but if I recall correctly, they will still give you a serial number but it is not needed for installation.

Users who had both versions in the same folder probably never noticed, but Replicant, in Reaper 32, only worked bridged in the 64 bits version. Courtesy of DRM?
Eventually something intelligent will appear written here. Watch this space.
