Hi whitecloud:whitecloud wrote:I see that uTonic has either C/R or offline serial #'s. I need to understand if going either route will allow you to re-authorize if you re-format or you drive gives up the ghost and if you move to another machine or could have your main DAW with it and on a Laptop(2 machines at a time). I guess I'll contact them but if anyone here knows how this copy protection scheme exactly works, please share this info.
From Sonicccharge:
I'm sure its the standard sort of license agreement (I have a copy on my desktop and laptop and I'm sure I read that in the license agreement at one point but maybe its changed, perhaps Soniccharge allow more), you can put a copy on 2 machines and use one or the other at any given time but not at the same time, some companies have a fair use policy, but as I understand it if you use the authenticator there is no sort of database of counted activations/unlocks as its not C@R just a helper system for users convenience to unlock the software in the conventional sense that a serial/user reg identity entry does without an internet connection...I imagine perhaps in the future there will even possibly be a bundle installer to go with it.One important addition to Microtonic 3.1 is a utility called Authenticator that will help you register and unlock the Sonic Charge products you own by simply entering the logon name and password you have chosen for this site. An internet connection is required to do this, but in case you do not have a connection you can still register from within the plug-in with your name, email and registration key. Authenticator exists to help you, not to be a copy protection system.
As I understand it there is no restriction on how many times you install and can unlock (in conventional sense) MT as long as end users respect the license agreement of 2 installs at any given time.So never any worries about installing again with a new OS/HD failure and the likes. You will always get it fully working without having to ask dev/company for new permissions/reset activations and the likes as they are not used.

The impression I got when reading the license agreement was that you could only install it on one computer.
That made me a bit unhappy as I wanted to install it on my laptop as well as my main computer.
Did I understand incorrectly?

Great update,thanks!
I don't agree at all,it remains fresh and inspiring to my earsAstralExistence wrote:it does look great, but tbh, microtonic is dated. sure, if you want that 'microtonic' sound then its great, nothing better. but its sorta, too little/too late. microtonic is going on 11 years old and in that time, it really hasn't grown that much. price/feature wise its just not worth it anymore. not for the price it sells for anyway

Thanks a lot, that's a lot clearer than what I read that was quite ambiguous.cryophonik wrote:http://soniccharge.com/forum/index.php? ... computers/FastTriggerFish wrote:The impression I got when reading the license agreement was that you could only install it on one computer.

Patternarium's beat generations keep getting refined and has had a major overhaul,...oh I forgot its also 64bit
I'm checking the demo as I write this. Can't wait to drive some synths with it's midi out. Drum alternate is awesome too. I can't believe I dismissed this because it was 32 bit before.

Glad you have this all sorted out. A little OT and regarding your previous post.TheoM wrote:Just wanted to say that Magnus replied to my email and was sorry he somehow missed the first and is more than happy to have my custom. One of the kindest replies to my request I ever got.. Will leave that at that... Thankyou Magnus
So now I'm going to get the whole line as money permits week by week.. Permu8 is sooo good and I remember when my demo timed out I was pissed! Already have bits peek and microtonic and synplant have not aged at ALL imo, just great, easy to use ergonomic and wonderful sounding products !!
Watch out for those pain med especially if they are opiates. Not stating the obvious like addiction as that is not my business or my main point. It is just they stop working over time and that is not good. I have major pain issues I will not share here and am trying other options for pain management. Some good days some bad and a lot of grin and bear it.
Back to Sonic Charge. I am really getting along with the uTonic demo and would be very interested with a 64 bit Synplant version I could demo as I have moved up to 64 bit Hosts.

Not to digress further, but opiates don't actually "stop working" - your body just become inured to them, so you require more to achieve the same level. This leads to the nastiest of side-effects: hearing loss. (There are others, but I think hearing loss is a pretty big one)whitecloud wrote: Watch out for those pain med especially if they are opiates. However, I just bought both Microtonic and Synplant due to this thread, and have been having fun with Microtonic. For some reason, Synplant doesn't show up on my Mac (AU or VST) in several of my DAWS, so not having as much fun with it...
Happy creating!!

Is it possible for the new and old uTonic to live happily on the same drive?
I have a few projects going right now with the last version and don't want to muck things up.

Well I guess my reason for limited usage of these drugs is because of some of what you described as far as needing more to find relief. I am looking at the possibilities of another surgery(laminectomy on my back 2001) and now 2 herniated discs in my neck along with some other issues there along with the same disc plus another in my back is screwed up again. I will endure pain during recovery time if I opt for surgery so I want the pain meds to be effective and not need such higher dosages or strong Rx'shueynym wrote:Not to digress further, but opiates don't actually "stop working" - your body just become inured to them, so you require more to achieve the same level. As far as Synplant when I demoed it some time ago it was only of a very few I didn't feel the mouse work problematic as I like hardware control of these instruments. It seemed like it was alive or like having a pet and really drew me in. It has been on my short list of VI's but will wait for 64 bit version. Have fun with your new softies.

Pretty sure the new µTonic is fully backwards-compatible with the last. No idea if they can co-exist with the new installer, etc.njon6 wrote:Is it possible for the new and old uTonic to live happily on the same drive?

If you are running in 64 bit, then that could be the issue as Synplant isn't 64 bit. Yet. Bug Magnus about it on the Sonic Charge forums and maybe that will be next in line!hueynym wrote:whitecloud wrote: Synplant doesn't show up on my Mac (AU or VST) in several of my DAWS, so not having as much fun with it...
