It says in the announcement that
Edison has matured into a fully featured sample editing and recording tool and is now available as a VST plug-in and a new standalone version
but I can't see what's different to the version I already have.

Also I haven't had any email or anything about the update but do I just need to download the demo version to update or what?

thanks

ps Is the Reaper gui bug fixed?

Post

I think all the new version brings is the Standalone application. Perhaps I'm mistaken? I wonder if there's an upgrade cost from v2 to v2.1?

And I'm glad to know I'm not the only one with a severe GUI issue using Edison (and other members of the Juicepack, to a lesser degree) in Reaper.

I downloaded the standalone (2.1) earlier... no additional cost.

I haven't gone through to compare the vst versions but from reading the updates, it sounds like there are some new features built in.

edit...

I thought there would be an email, but I didn't receive one either. I guess that's why there's KVR

I've installed it now but if there are more changes than the addition of a standalone a changelog would be handy.

Incidentally is IL using Juce now? - some of the dialogue boxes look just like those in Juce apps like Tracktion and SIR.

I think I read it wrong... I don't believe there are any changes other than just that its officially released in standalone???

I haven't used it as a VST and really haven't had much use for it as a plugin. I've been waiting for them to make the standalone available for a while. This I can use.

Yes, we use Juce for our minihost (i.e. for standalone versions of plugins).

As for a change log, most changes are related to the standalone. There are some bug fixes that affect the VST version, but nothing big or essential.

So is the bug in Reaper fixed?

What bug exactly? The redrawing bug? If so, that's still there, as I still don't know of a good way to prevent it.

Post

Yes that one. I presume this is something you need to work with the Reaper devs over - by the sounds of it this is not something that can just be "blamed" on the plugins or the host alone but maybe on how the two interact.

Post

IIRC the graphics bug is also in Ableton Live as well as Reaper. Shame... :(

Any word on when the osx version will be released? I own the juice pack and having at least edison on my mac would be great :)

What bug is it again?
Remember you've recently fixed the GUI problem with automation, although I doubt it's related since automation in Edison pretty much only applies to the recording & playback buttons.

Edison is Windows-only.

It's only the Juce-made wrapper around the standalone version that's portable.

And there are always little updates in each Edison release, not necessarily listed. But yes, the main difference here is the standalone version.
