Minnetonka Audio Software has announced the release of a new version 1.6 of their SurCode for Dolby E Decoder software product.

Along with maintenance fixes and improvements, version 1.6 adds support for Minnetonka Audio's AudioTools AWE in addition to Pro Tools, Nuendo, Fairlight and Pyramix. The new Decoder version debuts the ability to transmit metadata through the host computer's serial interface.

Another new feature in this release is a tally light showing when decoding is in progress. A simple green or red state indicates either a valid Dolby E stream or one or more decoding errors. When errors do occur, a popup readout displays the global error count, along with how many errors occurred in each of three categories; Sync & Framing, Metadata and Decoding. The numbers of metadata warnings are also displayed.

"We added our own fifth platform, AWE, to SurCode for Dolby E Decoder and are excited about the workflow combinations, with Dolby Media Meter and other technologies, that this offers," said John Schur, President of Minnetonka Audio Software. "In addition, the new support for serial metadata output in version 1.6 of SurCode for Dolby E Decoder eases integration with facilities that already have an inventory of legacy Dolby E hardware, while the new status indicator helps operators to quickly troubleshoot any problems during a session."

Version 1.6 of SurCode for Dolby E Decoder is a free upgrade for existing users, and is available from Minnetonka Audio Software online or at your local retailer.
