What is Concert Strings 3?

Because each player was carefully recorded individually and separately, you can give Concert Strings 3 your own personal sound and style.

Some key features:

• Each Player's Entrance. In the real world, no matter how "tight" a section is, no two players will ever be exactly together at the beginning of each note. To obtain this realism, the technology in Concert Strings 3 automatically distributes each player's entrance so that there is always a randomized slight difference. And you can control this difference yourself.
• Real Divisi. The technology that enables this is called "DivisiLive". No matter how many notes you play in a chord, DivisiLive will distribute the players so that you get a true divisi. For example, if you play 1 note, all 16 players will play it. 2 notes, and 8 players will play on each note. 3 notes, and the chord will be distributed as 5, 5, and 6 players. 4 notes, and 4 players will play on each note. You get the idea....all the way up to a 16-note chord (which will give you a single player on each note.).
• Customize your section size and players. You can create a section of any size from the largest amount of players available down to a soloist. And you are not forced to use certain players for certain section sizes. You can choose whichever players you like. And additionally, DivisiLive works on any section you create unless you have selected only a single soloist.

Concert Strings 3 is a very large library in both sample content and technology. In order to make this product available to as many as possible, several editions have been put together. Please see the comparison chart here, (which lists what you can get in Concert Strings 3). There are 5 editions. With each edition, you have the choice of the LS (Lite Samples ~ 10 GB) or FS (Full Samples ~ 75 GB) version.

The List of What You Get in Concert Strings 3:

• Full Vibrato Control
  All of the vibrato controls can be triggered by velocity or MIDI CC. And you can select which MIDI CC to use for vibrato control.
  Vibrato Controls:
  •Vibrato Intensity - Control the depth of the vibrato.
  •Vibrato Speed - Control the speed of the vibrato.
  •Vibrato Fade Time - Control how much time before the vibrato engages.
• Sul Tasto Effect
  This creates the silky sound you hear when string players bow close to or on top of the fingerboard.
• Connect Bowing
  Sometimes, when you play repeated notes on your MIDI keyboard, there is too much separation between the notes to sound realistic in string music. By using the Connect Bowing feature, you can get a much more fluid connection between these repeated notes.
• L Hand Shift
  Often a composer will call for the string players to perform certain passages by shifting up or down on the same string rather than bowing across strings. This particular sound is not a portamento, but still retains elements of a portamento that happens when string players play this way. The effect is rich and lush in most cases.
• Slur
  If you want to hear a slur rather than a bow change on each note, then use this feature. What is especially nice about this is that the slur will only happen when you overlap notes. This way you can immediately follow brisk attacks with smooth slurs without having to change articulations.
• Martele
  You can immediately change any articulation you are currently using to a short note. So no matter how long you hold the note down, the note will be shortened. You can control the length of how short you want the note to be as well.
• Sordini
  Creates the sound of string players using mutes.
• Dolce Largo
  The slowest of the articulations. This articulation has that "swell" that is so often heard and needed in string music.
• Legato
  Faster than Dolce Largo.
• Detache
  Faster than Legato.
• Marcato
  The fastest and most aggressive of the articulations.
• Tremolo
• Pizzicato
• Spiccato
• Trills
  Half step or whole step trills depending on the key signature you choose. If you turn the key signature off, then you can control whether the trills are half step or whole step manually.
• Key Signature Control
  The key signature is used for both trills and the Runs and Fills feature.
• Soften Attack
  You can reduce the attack of any available articulation separately. This way, you can switch from any articulation, and your custom settings of this feature will be remembered.
• Velocity Attack
  Increases the amount of control that velocity has over the attack. Like "Soften Attack" above, you can switch from any articulation, and your custom settings of this feature will be remembered.
• Release
  Increases the amount of time that the note fades out after you release it. Like "Soften Attack" and "Velocity Attack" above, you can switch from any articulation, and your custom settings of this feature will be remembered.
• DivisiLive

• Separate and Independent Soloist Chair Control
  If available, you can choose any of the solo chairs to be included or excluded from the mix.
• Separate and Independent Ensemble Chair Control
  If available, you can choose any of the ensemble chairs to be included or excluded from the mix.
• Quick-Select for Ensemble Sizes
  For convenience, this feature enables you to quickly select an ensemble size rather than picking and choosing chair by chair.
• Instant Solo, Duet, Trio and Quartet Selection
  From your soloists, you can instantly choose from Solo, Duet, Trio and Quartet.
• Panning Control
  If available, you can place any player wherever you like in the stereo field.
• Voume Control
  If available, you can control the volume of any player independently.
• Force Legato
  Normally, this is simply known as "Legato" where notes' on/off are controlled by a script when you overlap notes. In most cases, however, it makes playing a chord impossible. In Concert Strings 3, (And Pop Rock Strings, Concert Brass 2, Concert Strings 2, and some Diamond instruments) you are allowed to play a chord. However, any following notes played that overlap the chord will turn off all of the preceding notes as would be expected. DivisiLive works whether or not you are using Force Legato.
• Force Legato Overlap Control
  You can control how much overlapping sound there is between notes when you are using the Force Legato feature.
• IntervaLive
  Places intervals between overlapped notes. This feature works whether you are using Force Legato or note.
• Keyswitching
  When turned on, you can trigger most of the features of Concert Strings 3 with a key from your MIDI keyboard. And for convenience, you can choose which key you want to trigger the feature. You won't have to worry about whether a key was already assigned. Only available keys will be displayed when you proceed with the key assignment.
• Runs and Fills
  This is a very sophisticated feature that creates runs and custom fills. The runs are always according to the key signature, and always an octave up or down. However, the fills are completely custom. You can make them whatever you want them to be up to 16 notes long. And not only are the notes customized, but so is the volume of each note. The volume depends on the velocity of each note.
• Loosen Entrances
  In the real world, no matter how "tight" a section is, no two players will ever be EXACTLY together at the beginning of each note. To obtain this realism, the technology in Concert Strings 3 automatically distributes each player's entrance so that there is always a randomized slight difference. And you can control this difference yourself.
• Microphone Distance You can move the section anywhere from 5 feet (1.5 meters) to 38 feet (11.5 meters) away.
• Stage Position
  You can move the entire section anywhere in the stereo field.
• Velocity Sensitivity
  You can control the amount that velocity controls volume.
• CC Sensitivity
  You can control the amount that MIDI CC controls volume.
• Reverb
  Control the amount of reverb.
• Room Size
  Change the size of the room.
