The 1970s Slingerland Classic Rock Kit - Single Hits Pack as mixed by Alan Moulder comes with patches for ten different samplers and contains 103 stereo WAV samples. If you use any of the supported software or want to build your own patches and want a versatile classic 70s kit as mixed by one of todays leading alternative rock mix engineers then look no further.

The 1970s Slingerland Classic Rock Kit is a truly spectacular kit. A large kick drum, five toms and a deep Slingerland Radio King 14" x 7" snare drum, makes this kit a great choice for anyone who wants to re-enact their 70s rock classics. However it is not a one-trick pony as shown by producer Ben Hillier who uses it on most of the records he makes and recently took it on tour with artist Nadine Shah.

The Slingerland kits were first made in 1928 as a retaliation to Ludwigs manufacture of Banjos which Slingerland had been distributing. The Slingerland brand of drums was owned by the family until 1970, since then the Company has had multiple owners. Slingerland's most famous line of drums was the Radio Kings and we have included a Radio King snare with this kit. The rest of this Slingerland is from the 70s when the Company was in its heyday. With it's large drum sizes it is a powerful sounding kit and extremely versatile.

To get the best out of this kit we brought in one of the best mix engineers in the world - Alan Moulder. Alan is Britain's premier alternative rock producer / engineer working flat out in the UK and USA since the 1980's. Alan has worked on some of rock's most iconic records including Nine Inch Nails, The Killers, Foo Fighters, Arctic Monkeys, Led Zeppelin, Jesus & Mary Chain and Foals. Alan won the Brits Producer of the year award in 2014.

The Slingerland kit was recorded in Miloco's The Pool by Drumdrops engineer Ben Thackeray and mixed in Assault and Battery 1 by Alan.

The kit consists of a 24" Kick drum, five toms - 12", 13", 14"and 15" rack toms a huge 18" floor tom and a signature 14" x 7" deep Radio King snare. The cymbals used were 14" Zildjian New Beat Hi-hats, a Zildjian K Custom 22" ride, a Zildjian K Dark thin 18" crash and a Zildjian Vintage Cie 16" crash.

The recording took place in Miloco's The Pool Studios in London. At the centre of the Control Room can be found a rare vintage EMT console. The outboard racks are full of great gear with highlights including Neve 1079's and 1272's, API Mic Pre's and Telefunken V76's. Compressors include Urei 1176's, Altec, Neve 2254's and Tweed. Mics used include Neumann U87's, Coles 4038's, AEA R88 MkII Ribbon Mics, Neumann Gefell CMV 563's, Earthworks SR30's, a Lomo 19A19 and AKG mics.

Alan Moulder mixed the kit in his studio Assault & Battery 1 in London. Based in the famous Battery complex in North London this is a mix room centered around a pristine 72 channel SSL G+ SL4000 once owned by Trent Reznor. Add to this the huge collection of outboard an HD3 protools rig fully loaded with plug-ins and you have an extremely impressive mix room.

The "Single Hits Pack" is perfect for customers who only need a few velocities of each articulation but want to utilise one of the included patches. This pack includes up to three velocities of each articulation. In total it contains 103 stereo drum samples. All of the samples are mixed from a combination of the overhead, room and close mics recorded as 24-bit 44.1 kHz WAV files, meaning they can be loaded into almost any sampler or drum machine. We also provide the samples in this pack as 16-bit WAV files for the legacy drum machines such as the Akai MPC60. To make things easier we include patches for some of the most commonly used software packages including:

Kontakt v5.2.0.
Battery v3.2.3.
EXS24 vLogic X.
Ableton Drum Rack v9.0.5.
Reason v7.0.1 Combinator Refill containing NN-XT sampler & FX.
Maschine v1.8.0.
Geist v1.0.0.7.
Studio One's Impact v2.5.1 Soundset.
