Midi straight from keyboard?

I remember that people used to sell little things that you could stick in an empty drive bay on the front of your machine that had spdif and midi I/O ports. Does anyone still sell those? I would really like to record from my keyboard and then quantitize on my computer instead of recording audio from my keyboard. Any suggestions?
Thanks

I can't seem to find anything that sounds like what you're talking about. You could get a MIDI/gameport interface by getting a sound card, if you can find one cheap enough. Otherwise, you might have to go with USB.

EMU had the Audio Production Studio, APS, and creative had some live-bay for their Live! soundcard, those could be inserted into the front of your PC, where a harddisk or CD Rom should be
Personally I hate having all those wires in front of my PC.
But if you like it, go ahead...

There's been several interfaces like that actually. Yamaha DSP Factory I believe was that way as well. You don't need one of those to do MIDI. You can get a PCI card for MIDI i/o that's on your sound card, or get a USB interface that has MIDI too.

Personally I like the PCI card idea.
Christmas is coming up soon and I'll do some sleuthing for one. Do you know of any cards that are still in production?
Thanks again. And check out my songs on Electromancer by slicking on the link in my signature.

head over to http://www.soundblaster.com for many variants of what you want.
Remember that the drive bay breakout box is connected to the soundcard in the PCI slot.
