ctrl-z yields no result.

Here's an image of what is happening: https://ibb.co/RbffQ5m

I don't know what made the lines appear, I can only half-tell what they're for (something about snapping maybe?) and I can't find a way to make them go away. Thank you for any assistance!

This can happen to me on a looped clip. If that's the case here, click on the clip and type "L" to turn off the loop.

If this isn't happening on a looped clip, I don't know what you were working on where this occurred. Additional details are welcome.

Unlooping and re-looping seems to have done the trick, thank you

Okay, good. Within a clip, you can loop a part of a clip, and it creates that vertical line. If you click around trying to get out of that, you wind up creating these loops within clips all over the place. I think if I used it for its intended purpose, it would be great; but usually it's a clicking error I make and it's easier to unloop and reloop to clean it all up.
