Shortening a transient on Kick

So I have kick sample of which I like everything except the transient length. What tool would you reccomend to make the transient last less time?
Transient shapers from what I hear work on the volume, not on the lenght. Is it ok to reduce it manually and than make a crossfade to avoid a potential click when I merge it back?
What other tools could I use? Audio warping? Is it something common? What potential side effects? Would that alter the pitch of the transient?

You could use a gate (or edit) to chop some of the front off?

Post

Khz Transient(free) works on length also. I use it all the time.

You can also use a compressor to shape the transient

Yeah, a compressor helps but it works mainly on the volume. I want to chop off part of the transient.

It sounds complicated to me. Too many settings in a gate. I kinda feel this should be simpler.

Yeah, now I'm looking at some transient designers that seem to give more control over the attack of a kick.

I just used it yesterday on a kick. It's pretty amazing. Pretty plain kick and it was able to shorten it, make it punchier, give that thud body, or make it that thin tappy progressive sound. You just have to watch some presets auto turn on the Clip function which will make it very loud.

If you are on Ableton this is exceptional

Yeah it's great but it doesn't do what I need. I have to repeat myself, I want a plugin that affects the lenght of the transient, not the sustain.

Boom! Exactly what I was asking for. This plug-in is pure perfection, the only problem is I'm not on Ableton so I have no way to obtain it. :(

Anyway, I found out that "Quantum" by Wavesfactory can do pretty much the same thing. Basically you have to solo the "Attack" portion on the plug-in and than reduce its decay.
Not as perfect as this "Carver" plug-in, but it does the job for now. Though I'll continue searching. For anyone who has other methods or ways to deal with this please share it here.

Sound like you want something simple, practical...but maybe this one... is worth a try

There are more videos on YouTube for more specific uses. It's a real powerful tool

BTW: I own it but I never use it because Carver is just fine for my needs.

Boz makes great stuff. I also think LVC Transector would work but it's a CPU hog. (I have the CM version)

Amazing, this is even more than what I need. I feel this will serve me well for snares, claps and kicks in general.

Yes, this is another great workhorse that I'll be surely getting. Thx
