How to do this, that and the other. Share, learn, teach. How did X do that? How can I sound like Y?

Hi all - I decided to start a small youtube channel entitled 'mixing for chumps' - very much for novices.
Based on my ten years of prior experience as a studio/mix engineer, and also on hearing a lot of the work on submithub and realising I was leaving much the same feedback for people all the time - the same mistakes keep getting made.

For the moment there's just the channel intro:

And a brief introduction to mixing philosophy:

The thumbnails make me cringe but they're the best I can do.
As the weeks go by I will be uploading more videos relating to level balancing, EQ and the like. Will post back here when they go up - cheers

New video for the week, and the longest one I've done, only because it seems most people making music need to know this stuff - advanced or beginner - it's getting bad out there, and for no real reason:

You're welcome - be aware that I am not the top pro, merely another chump really - albeit one who ran a studio for a decade.
Having said that, two new videos:

Really great straight-forward and useful information across the spectrum. I really appreciate your style of presentation, and have confidence in what you're saying --while I'm not new to making music I'm always researching new ways to do things I've done, or seeking confirmation that what I'm experimenting with is on the right track. Thanks for taking the time to produce your videos.
Have you tried Vital?

I think these videos are wonderful so far. Not necessarily just for beginners. I am enjoying your insights on gear, philosophy, etc. and your down to earth no hype style. :tu:
