I am looking for Synths that have Multistage Envelops or at least can have the release envelope go upwards.

Operator can do this and most synth's I have cannot have a release Envelope that goes up instead of down. thx :)

DX 7 (dexed)
I have no idea why synth designs still stick to ADSR. The DX 7 was released in 1983 and delivered already the minimum of 4 stages. One for attack, one for sustain and two for the release all with independent level and rates…
One year later Casio released the CZ 101 with an 8 stage envelope…
Emulations of these synths of course have that feature…
In analog designs an ADSR might justifiable it isn’t at all in software based designs…

because complexity is not always favourable over agility.

do i understand this correctly?:

i release the finger from the key (aka release phase) the gate opens, sound is hearable

so the cycle would be:
[sound is constantly hearable until i...]

1) hit the key -> sounds gets down to the value of mseg-step1
2) sound goes through all the mseg steps
3) finger releases key - sounds opens gate fully
sound is fully and constantly hearable until...
hit the key (back to 1))....

correct?

maybe have a look at:
cherry audio, the rack synth or
vcv rack

vcv rack has tons of modules
maybe there is one with an inverse release gate

alchemy has mseg which can be used for amp with the ability of having the release go upwards (constantly open)

the mseg can also be applied reversely (i.e.: depth -100%)

but honestly:
whats the use of a constantly open release ?

and thinking about it:
normally "release" is a time value
representing the time it takes to close the gate

so, a "negative time" doesn't make much sense imho

in arturia pigments
i can use
function as mseg to controll the EnvVCA-sustain
with the loop points in function i can define a loopable mseg sustain
the last segment of function can go upwards and with the mode as "envelope" it will act as upwards release

audio damage quanta

has mseg
actually quite sophisticated:
sustain can be oneshot, forward loopable or for/backward loopable

after this loop-sustain there is the release phase which, tadamm, can also be mseg
and as such can be controlled loudness- and timewise

at the very end, last breakpoint, it will fade to zero

ihmo actually quite a nice env :-)

and vital

similar but kind of quirky

LFO can be MSEG, set to "Sustain Envelope" and defining any point as loop-sustain
anything after that is release (upwards, further mseg)
set to control OSC volume
and the hardwired ENV1 has max sustain and longest release

MSoundFactory. Envs are DADHSTR, you can have multistage attack and release, with an LFO tremolo built-in. You can disable immediately going to the release stage on note off (toggle "percussive"). Release can go upwards. At release time termination it will immediately go back to zero. Each envelope stage can also be modulated.

Seaweed Audio Fathom's MSEGs are interesting. Optional release can go upward. Up to 256 segments. Segments can be ratcheted, you can adjust period, attack, and release, center, and smooth it. There's a lot more. Segmentation parameters can be modulated.

UVI Falcon has a bunch of envelopes. Drunk is fun. Doesn't have one that goes upward on release. But you can script one.

Don't forget good old Absynth 5. Draw lots of breakpoints, loop them, add an LFO modulation, macro control, hit mutate for random variations.
