Live’s UI is shockingly bad! And it’s cpu performance is terrible too,I switched to Reaper fairly recently and don’t regret it at all. It’s light and responsive.

Yes, it’s what sold me on learning Reaper. So easy on the eyes.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: ↑Thu Mar 19, 2020 3:24 pmSmooth6 is excellent!simmo75 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 19, 2020 3:03 pm Here’s a UI theme I’ve been using & really like.

My two themes are:
1. Smooth6
2. iLogic v3 (requires a donation)
And I've created a set of custom icons/toolbars and slight modifications to both. In a few cases, even learning RT Config/Walter code to modify some layouts.
For me, the thing those two themes do very well (at least combined with my toolbars) is feel like complete themes instead of just quick skin jobs. That's where the customization capabilities of Reaper really puts it ahead of other DAWs. I've been able to combine various things from various DAWs, my own little workflow quicks and/or preferences, and combine those things into visual themes that create a very complete experience. Sure, the annoying Windows-like dialogs and menus aren't the best, and I'd love a more S1/Cubase style FX/presets/media browser, but that's minor in the grand scheme of things.

There are two kinds of people in the world. Those which can finish a tune, and those which has 300 two-bar loops.

that looks amazing. I'm still using Rado 4 (I think), but I am very happy with it. Never liked the stock ones.TheMaestro wrote: ↑Fri Mar 20, 2020 9:29 pm I use a modified version of this:

I came here because of the 'social distancing' Reaper license. Why not try it for free until july right? So I went through all basic how-to video's and I must say I'm impressed. I started with Ableton, moved to Bitwig (and learned Studio One on the side). Can't say Reaper ticks all boxes I'm used to in Bitwig, but I'll be damned if this isn't an amazing DAW for 60$.
I very much like its customization options. When I started with music production about 3 years ago I was happy to be led along by developer design choices, but now that I have a better general DAW knowledge I love that Reaper allows me to change about anything I like.
Not to mention how freaking efficient Reaper is: Repro-5 on HQ, 8 voices, all fx enabled and almost never exceeding 10% CPU. O-kay...

So true. Live is great, but sometimes CPU inefficient, easy to overload with a few heavy plugins. Where Reaper can handle much more. But instead of crackles and glitches the interface starts lagging, nothing serious though
