I have an affinity for this place and it's diverse visitors after entering the KVR Music Cafe July 2017 competition. Since then I've posted a few times, last was around 9 months ago.

Anyway, I finished this song after a couple of months of work (let's pretend the mixing / mastering issues don't count). It was pretty complex to put together and the vocals were recorded at separate times with three different mics - difficult to know how to approach that, although I can think of a few better ways than the technique I used in hindsight - single track dsp, automated EQing for each sample before compression. To be fair, it could sound way worse (and has).

I'm not sure how to describe it, except to say there's a time signature change and some very interesting harmonies to my ears - electronic prog (with some added funk), maybe?

Love to hear people's thoughts - I like the diverse critique I get from you guys. Am thinking about entering a compo here again soon, too, once my imminent album is finished :)

Created with Renoise, FabFilter plugins, Serum and Reaktor mainly (along with some Oatmeal).

That's really trippin' man.

Nice to hear something a little different from the norm. Love those vocals. What Vocoder did you use?

Anyway, enjoyed the experience. Looking forward to more of your stuff.

Kerovee for the vocals, I'd recommend it to anybody. It's a versatile pitch correction VST which always gives me results :) it integrates nicely into Renoise, too. Thanks for listening, glad you enjoyed it. I really enjoyed making this one. (I was in hospital for part of the making of this. I recorded the 'clever man' vocal there, into my laptop with the laptop mic, and mixed / produced there using a portable bluetooth speaker. Glad to be out of there though :) ).

Instantly recognisable as a chemeleon tune. It has lots of variety (I'm thinking Aphex Twin does ProgRock). The vocal melodies are off the beaten track, but work very well with the music. I've played it 3 times tonight, so you're doing something right.

Good work :)

Just saw this - thanks man. Means a lot that compliment. I think my capacity to produce good music has improved recently. I'm working with the older not-so-good tracks on mashups, where a little oversight in production can either be easily covered up or the source of great imbalance. I don't think I could include this in one of those tunes though as it has a time signature change... It also took way to long to finish, I'd been working on it on non stop since August and there was a previous incarnation before that which I first saved on the 30th of December 2018. 9 months or thereabouts. Almost a new years day baby haha :)
