Got to know from their Instagram that they were facing outage, but were back up again after a few hours. It is up now.

I have upgraded to the bundle and trying Portal. Amazing plugin. Until you try it, you won't know - I certainly did not. The GUI is so inviting.

I don't think it's better or worse, just different. The Byome/Triad granular effect is excellent, but Portal is more grid-oriented: the parameters in Portal (grain length, grain position, timestretch, grain spawn time, and all of the grain randomizations) can be tempo-locked, and you can also link these parameters to be multiples of each other on a per-grain basis. You can't do that in Triad. Also, Triad's granular algorithm sounds different to me -- it produces a "cloudier" effect (not a value judgement, just an observation). If you already have Byome or Triad, whether or not you'll also want Portal is dependent on if you want those tempo-locked parameters.

I like using it to add interesting musical textures to guitar, keys, synths, and not totally destroy the original sound. The wet/dry controls in every section and output and the ability to lock the grains to a scale or chord make it quite musical. Love automating the x/y controls for movement. Up there with Tantra as my most used multi-effect. Easily worth $96 in my opinion.
