After a long hiatus, I am back with a new track to continue our cosmic journey. This one has rather a grand nod towards the Vangelis vibe and sound.

I like it.
Did not dislike some of the earlier songs you posted but I had trouble paying attention to them all the way thru. This one holds my attention better. Such observation only provided for trivia useless information value. It may mean that this one is naturally better at holding attention than some of the earlier works-- Or maybe you just finally managed to make something simple enough for my 1 bit brain with a parity error.

Thank you wagtunes, appreciate the marking system
Thanks JCJR, I do appreciate your thoughts. Sometimes I am guilty of making to many complicated interweaving patterns. It may well be the simpler gliding vibe that I went for in this track that helped. It is certainly something that I am exploring these days.

Very good. The visuals transport you somewhere, which is nice and mind-expanding.
For me it was somewhat mid-rangey. The pitch range wasn't really explored. Energy levels were somewhat samey too.
Beautiful lush pad at the start.
But still liked the vibe and the music took me somewhere.

Hi Mr Diode
You had me at mention of the Big V. (esp seeing fast few who indicated Ambient were Hip Hop or EDM)
Nice. Yes it is a bit middy and there is a mix disconnect between the melodies and bassy parts. I dipped into a few others of yours and found similar instances of parts that seemed not quite slotted into the overall mix. That is just mixing tho and not the main show.
The music, here especially, is nice and direct with a clear sense of narrative flow - even it if does seem to run out rather than finish. I'll be happy to hear more.

Thanks for the feedback, Benedict. I would be very interested if you could elaborate on what you mean by the disconnect between the melodies and bass. To be honest, it is the first time someone has used such a term on one of my tracks, so would like to learn from this if possible.

A mix disconnect: in the mix, parts don't feel like they gel together (not a note thing). They don't seem to share the same space or overlap in any way.biodiode wrote: ↑Thu Jun 20, 2019 8:02 pm Thanks for the feedback, Benedict. This can come from a few sources but commonly look at:
Different reverbs on every instrument can make sounds disjointed from one another. Shared Reverb on a send or even the masters brings everything into the same space. Compression can too but that is rarer in what I heard.
Arrangement issues in terms of instrumentation choices is a common one. The composer wants that sound even if it doesn't really sit with the rest of the sonic story. It can work but not from sheer willpower alone. Find common areas in each sound and pull them together which is...
Balance of Tone. If you made a piece with only an alto trumpet and a bass, you need to bring out the mids on the bass more (roll off subs even) and allow (boost even) a lot more of the low body of the trumpet to let the two sounds share a sonic space in the middle or it feels like there is a big hole and the two are not connected emotionally (time & space).
Good Jazzmen do this latter automatically, and the room helps.
I hope that helps
