If you want to know about all the new features and changes in the new Logic Pro X update 10.4.5, here is some help because I just release my new book "Logic Pro X - What's New in 10.4.5" available on my website
http://LogicProGEM.com
On 78 pages I explain all the details of the new features and changes in this 10.4.5 update with lots of information that you won't find anywhere else. Like my other Graphically Enhanced Manuals™, the book explains the topics with rich graphics and the chapter for the new DeEsser2 alone is 11pages with detailed information about the functionality and how to use it.
Enjoy,

If one wants to get smart on Logic Pro X, do I start with "How it Works", then "The Details", and then work through each of the "What's new " books? Is there any thoughts to updating the first two books for new folks?

I want to, but it is a huge undertaking. My two main Logic books are about 1,000 pages combined. By the time I would be finished, Apple would have already released the next update. Now I'm now also teaching at Fullerton College and Loyola Marymount University which limits the time I have available for working on my books.
However, the update will happen at some point and in the meantime at least I release the comprehensive "What's New in..." books for the individuaLogic l updates.

let's start by the beginning,
what's new is that you must buy a new overpriced mac to run Logic X.
The only daw which does not run on older mac.

Running 10.4.5 on a 7-year-old Macbookpro.
I’ll have to confirm, but I am pretty sure that I qualify for the next OS, which, if the current pattern continues, will give me a few more Logic revisions. Certainly not cause for complaint.

You might be lucky in case it's in fact mid 2012.el-bo (formerly ebow) wrote: ↑Sun Jun 16, 2019 7:50 am Running 10.4.5 on a 7-year-old Macbookpro.

Thanks! I did check at some point, but just needed to confirm.Sascha Franck wrote: ↑Sun Jun 16, 2019 2:14 pmYou might be lucky in case it's in fact mid 2012.el-bo (formerly ebow) wrote: ↑Sun Jun 16, 2019 7:50 am Running 10.4.5 on a 7-year-old Macbookpro.

What isn't sure is my prediction for future OS revisions. I had thought that the minimum requirement for Mojave, upward, was a Metal GPU. However, the article you linked seems to suggest that that may not be a given. Either way, I'm still extremely happy with how the laptop performs, especially with these latest Logic optimisations

I ran Cubase 9.5 on a 2010 MBP. just as a point of fact. Don't know about 10, 10 came out only after I'd bought a 2018.
Logic Pro X will have as well, not 10.4.5 I don't think. If you want the latest and greatest that's how this works, one supposes.

I'm not having any serious issues with 10.4.5, but I haven't delved too deeply into it, either. Logic is more CPU efficient than Cubase 10, though. By far.
