I just did an experiment, comparing SRP to Serpent directly based on the same MIDI data. At first, Serpent sounded more muted than SRP, but with a simple +10% or so velocity offset for Serpent the output sounds nearly identical (within reason). I didn't touch any mute weighting here. I did increase the minimum release noise times; of course your exact times will vary to taste.

https://impactsoundworks.com/audio/SRP% ... 0Mutes.wav
One reason for slight variation between the mutes of SRP and Serpent is that SRP's mapping was a lot more uneven on a note by note basis. We re-distributed things evenly in Serpent which should lead to a more consistent result in terms of triggering the same weighting of mute from one key to the next.
I'd be curious to hear a SRP vs. Serpent comparison for the MIDI you are working with, along with the MIDI itself, to identify why you might be hearing a really big difference.

Here's an audio example for each guitar in the same particular section. Along with the midi, an NKA for Shreddage 2 IBZ, and an snapshot for S3 Rogue. The difference is particularly noticeable in the second half of the clip.
It should be noted that the S2 MIDI is using split by MIDI channel.

@Zircon, is it possible you could share your settings for that clip? Ummm....I can't get the mutes to sound anything like that. All of the layers are SUPER tight, like....all of the more loose layers I cannot trigger in either Rogue nor Serpent. The half mutes, for example, have seemingly been removed, which would be very disappointing.

Ah okay. I figured out what it is with the tightness. I was using Velocity split the whole time. The script doesn't automatically adjust when going between articulation triggers. On top of that, messing with the global offset is helping me get in the ballpark combined with this.

If you're using velocity splits between articulations, try using Vel Scale button in TACT, which is supposed to rescale incoming velocities to your defined velocity split range, so that you can reach all the velocity layers mapped to the articulation by only using velocities within your velocity split.

Oooh I did not realize this... this might explain some of my problems.EvilDragon wrote: ↑Fri Mar 22, 2019 6:14 am If you're using velocity splits between articulations, try using Vel Scale button in TACT, which is supposed to rescale incoming velocities to your defined velocity split range, so that you can reach all the velocity layers mapped to the articulation by only using velocities within your velocity split.
I wanted to thank you (@zircon and @EvilDragon) for answering here, this is appreciated.
And ISW support answered to me. They told me things about the velocity that should be increased, but also that the enveloppe is slightly different, and that a patch is to be expected soon to fix this!
Great!

Jumped on this day 1, excited about the new UI and other features!
I feel bittersweet with moving the 'force string' and 'picking mode' keyswitches around again, as well as flipping them.
-On one hand, gotta relearn where they are and edit old song MIDI
-On the other hand, it makes all the sense in the world, from both a keyboard and guitarist perspective
Haven't taken a deep dive into all the Jupiter features yet, but the palm mutes sound too tight for me as well, which worries me because big beefy chuggs are what makes this guitar library my fav, BUT reading these posts it seems we just need to learn to calibrate it properly; all the samples are still there so it has to be possible.
One more thing. Abyss apparently doesn't have fret marks? They're on the cover, why not on the patch? I write my riffs on a real guitar, so when transcribing it to MIDI fret marks are important for me to easily see if it's playing right.
But don't let all my criticisms bring you down - Shreddage 3 is cool! Excited for the future
You guys need to sample an 8 string! I personally don't really need one, but there's probably a demand for it and it's one of the very few things other virtual guitars producers have that you do not. ISW... do u even djent, brah??

Since my initial criticisms, I've had to a chance to better learn and use Rogue......and even ended up buying Serpent. I'm loving this update. It even sounds better to my ears than I was triggering before.
Job well done, ISW!

Fret marks seem to be just fine over here in Abyss. Hmm.
That one is in progress! Tosin Abasi signature with Fishman Fluence pickups.

Well I don't see any in the videos or the images on the store I'm talking about the actual dots on frets 3,5,7,9,12 etc, not the frets themselvesEvilDragon wrote: ↑Sat Mar 23, 2019 7:10 am Fret marks seem to be just fine over here in Abyss. Hmm.

Just don't use this one that looks like it jumped out of the 80's for the graphic

I really don't think this is an accurate thing to say. The palm mute recordings are the same; you can listen to my SRP comparison posted earlier in the thread. There is just a very slight envelope difference (not related to frequency) that we're going to correct in a patch.ah! so palm mutes in these new libraries sound too thin??

Yes, the neck looks as on the sampled bass itself, so no fret markings.

Well some Muckelroy basses have fret marks, so it doesn't violate any design principles. And they're on the instrument on the cover and were in Shreddage Bass 2. I'm just saying it's a feature some users would find practical and users who upgrade will lose something.EvilDragon wrote: ↑Sun Mar 24, 2019 6:31 am Yes, the neck looks as on the sampled bass itself, so no fret markings.
Sorry to keep banging on this detail, because the isntrument is still totally fine without it, but as someone who is somewhat dyslexic fret marks help me in real life I'm sure it'd make the patch just a lil better for some, and all you have to do is change the graphic

it's not what customers said it seems...if i buy a metal library i'm expecting it to be usable for metal atleast, without going mad to achieve decent palm mutes.
