Haha, I have no idea what a j2d file is? It wont open with anything here.
Anyway, please share the settings again. I would love to keep working on this until we get to something really good.
Soundboard IR sounds promising. I still thing 3 strings in the unison, is the way to go. But maybe I can loose the OSC, I was just using that for some extra body, as the strings were sounding a little thin. Or maybe better than string would be to use resonator and then we would have more control over the exciter. BTW how have you arrived at the settings for the modal filter and why?
Maybe an idea could be to use a sample of a piano and analyse it in the modal filters structure?

Here is my latest version. I found an IR of a piano cab. I find that the OSC sounds better in the lower keys and the string in the upper, so I have a keyscale that sort of balances this nicely.
I have managed to reduce the CPU useage a little, but its still a killer, can you think of any ways to reduce it?
Also please could you send me the MIDI for that piano audio you showed me? I would like to run it through my device and see how it compares. Thanks :)

IMO the strings module doesn't work well for this because the exciter can't replicate a hammer properly. I decided against using the resonator also because of the fact you can't adjust the harmonics. Hopefully in the future there will be a way to do that, but right now there isn't. The modal filter doesn't have all the harmonics needed, but at least you can adjust them. I actually analyzed piano samples to try to get things right, but one problem is the 3 strings make it somewhat impossible. I used the sample as a base and then had to adjust things from there.
