I still may get Architect if Colin releases Architect's capabilities to help me decide.
It has a midi out.

Fingers crossed they fix that, tho they haven't rushed to fix MIDI-out from hosted VSTs, either:(
But the External MIDI device long ago solved MIDI out from Reason stand-alone, as my post was all about.
I love the idea of Reason as a plug-in and will certainly upgrade, but it doesn't look like ver.11 as is will actually impact my use of Reason as a MIDI tool, a bit disappointing, but it's already working really well on that front, for me anyway, as I have no problem with IAC latencies. Other benefits? We'll see!
Overall, tho, pretty amazing stuff going on with plugins these days!

I think they've been talking about Loomer Architect.

A bit earlier, when pointing out the great Cherry Audio give-away and sale, I mentioned VCV, and that I hadn't explored it yet. Well, thaks to Cherry A, now I have, as I struggled over wanting too many other things from Cherry A, for $$$. So, before driving myself even further down that road, I paused to take another look at VCV.
wow.
Made a quick video, recalling some responses here about not wanting to bother with anything like "modular" stuff for MIDI. Think again—this can be SO easy, and all for free.

Here's links to some of the resources mentioned:
The Jim Aikin series:

The most prolific YouTube explainer/demo-maker for VCV that I know of:

See especially this on how VCV can now host vsts (probably even including Voltage Modular! Which I expect to be checking out soonest—This feature does cost, though only $30):

(LOVE the "aka:" subtitle—so true:))
VCV should have been the FIRST suggestion made in a topic like this one! If all it did was what I show it doing above, it would have been. The resources here, IMO, make it about as painless as possible to get involved without overwhelm. And once in, bring it on:)

I actually own it, and have watched all the tuts I can find. Never even heard of this feature before now, sorry to say, and I bet it doesn't involve MIDI (still looking for it in the plug-in…). I've certainly not heard of MIDI Out being a feature… Aparillo does SOUND great, tho:)Musical Gym wrote: ↑Mon Aug 26, 2019 8:52 pm Thanks for feedback on Aparillo, David.

It’s available right now in beta form. The price is right and it’s incredibly powerful. Check it out!perpetual3 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 26, 2019 5:57 pmLooks too good to be true.David wrote: ↑Mon Aug 26, 2019 5:20 pmviewtopic.php?f=141&t=517104perpetual3 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 26, 2019 5:15 pmWhat’s architect?Kalamata Kid wrote: ↑Mon Aug 26, 2019 4:20 pmToo bad no midi out from the Rack!

I don’t know if it was already mentioned in the past 16 pages, but MidiHub looks like it will be really useful in the hardware world.

David,
My idea was to have a VST able to transit midi data using audio. It would have a midi in and an audio out. The audio will likely have square waveform that will carry the midi data. On the other end will be a VST that has an audio in and a midi out. Not sure how well this will work and how bad the latency will be. One VST will encode the midi to audio and the other VST will decode the audio to midi. Just thinking out loud.
This is for modular host that has an audio out but not a midi out but as it tuns out the Reason Rack cannot host VST's. Without a third party VST hosting in the Rack this is a dead. That is why I deleted the post.
But then once you allow the Rack to host third party VST's there may be better ways to get midi data out from the Rack.

I really wanted to like it for a melodic/chordal tool, but I don't find anything showing those capabilities for it.David wrote: ↑Sat Aug 31, 2019 2:13 amI actually own it, and have watched all the tuts I can find.
