Feature wise Hive can do no less than Dune.

i didnt notice a dedicate 3op FM section, extensive Osc waveform section, multi analogue filters or 8 layers in hive.... did i miss something?

the two synths are not even close to being comparable

I like the guitar-like sound at around 4 mins, but that's pretty much it, most sounds are just annoying in my view.

tell us all how your brilliant business mind decided 49 was the right price, bearing in mind you have no idea how much time was spent on creating the update (unless you work for Synapse and are privvy to such info)

For the same reason 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 2.4, 2.5, 2.6 don't have their own pages. A version number doesn't signify a separate product.

DUNE 2 was $169, so $10 difference

Because Dune 2 was a completely different synth from Dune. Patches were not compatible in any way.
