A beginner here and been browsing this forum for a long time trying to learn.
I'm having a hard time to get some good snare sounds for use in synthpop/electropop.
What I'm after is something similar to this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2OaIdT_zfr0.
Anyone having suggestions where to begin and what effects to get something similar?

there really is nothing special about that snare. it's a matter of browsing through your sample packs till you get something close then process it with reverb to get that prolonged after effect. that's it.

This snare sounds like an acoustic snare. So samples are the obvious source. Like CHOOS suggests, Google will find them for you. There's plenty of them available. Both commercial and free.

Sounds like a Gretsch Birch Snare muted with a digital reverb and maybe some bitcrusher added.

For starters this vst has every drum sound imaginable for synth pop which usually uses old drum machines.

To me it sounds like some simple snare sample + down pitched clap. If you want to add that 80s feeling, send it through a reverb and a gate. (also google "gated reverb" or "phil collins drums")

If you wanna give it a try with a Roland TR-909....emulation....for free....
MaxSynths - DR-910

All sounds are synthesized. Except for the metal bits. They are (6-bit) samples (like the 909 had/has).
