If you click on the DS404 logo and it says v1.1 then you don't need to update. That's probably why the patch files don't work - v1.1 is the latest version.

If you're using Cubase SX3 it isn't ever going to work properly with DS404 until after the next update which will be released shortly. This fixes the compatibility issue with this host (plus a few other bugs).
