I got it all backed up, so I am OK, but bad news for newbie Zampler users who want to stack up on free sounds
And how often do old free sample content, become payware ?

Yes exactly, plus some minor fixes. Don't know what the 2.0 is about, we do not maintain the Zampler.de page.swatwork wrote:I'm not sure why this is being billed as "Zampler 2.0", it's actually version 1.05. As far as I know the only changes are the new skin, updated marketing links (Sample Shop/Beat/Delamar) and the additional OSX 64-bit format.

It's down to the new skin job I think.Richard_Synapse wrote:Don't know what the 2.0 is about
Did you give Beat the source code when delivering Zampler v1.0 to them ?

Zampler is still free and still working. Very good sample player for sfz banks. Has 64bit version.idfpower wrote:Yeah... another nice freeware oldie gone bad.
Different sfz banks are available all around the net, for free (and not). You can make new ones too, even by Yourself.
And when Beat decided to sell some of their libraries, now Zampler is "gone bad"? I don't quite catch Your point...

Zampler is worthless without its dedicated libraries.Kumi_27 wrote:Zampler is still free and still working. Very good sample player for sfz banks. Has 64bit version.

Old software gets retired and often released as freeware by devs, while Beat takes their old dumbed-down Dune version, slaps a new skin and goes payware - yeah, that's bad in my book. But hey, whatever.

Except Zampler is still freeware and most of the soundsets for sale were never free to begin with, being available only to Beat subscribers. You can still download a decent selection of free sounds from the Zampler site and as it's based on the open SFZ-format you can even make your own so I would hardly describe it as worthless.idfpower wrote:Zampler is worthless without its dedicated libraries.

Plugin Boutique have been selling Zampler sound sets for a while now and no one's complaining, so I don't think it's unreasonable for Zampler's creators to do the same.

At least 8 of those now commercial libraries were previously freeware. A good number of additional libraries were also available for free throught their Facebook page - not anymore.swatwork wrote: Except Zampler is still freeware and most of the soundsets for sale were never free to begin with, being available only to Beat subscribers. And for the record, Beat was the client, not the creator of Zampler - Synapse is. And I don't see them selling Zampler libraries, do they
IMO Zampler is not worth the trouble without its libraries. There are better players outhere. And it's not Dune either. Without those exclusive sounds, there's nothing much left; sometimes it's performing poorly inside some DAWs and it doesn't blend that well into a mix alongside other virtual instruments. I've stopped using it a while back and I still have pretty much all those libraries saved in a folder somewhere, but for new users this is a hard hit.
By the look of it, it seems Beat is losing customers so it's not worth making libraries for the subscribers alone. They're cashing in as much as possible.

It rarely happens, but in any case, its theirs and can do whatever they want with it. In my opinion, Zampler RX is good enough to make commercial libraries available for it.Numanoid wrote:I got it all backed up, so I am OK, but bad news for newbie Zampler users who want to stack up on free sounds

I'm not a musician, but I've designed sounds that others use to make music. http://soundcloud.com/obsidiananvil
