Note that some VST plugins have hundreds of parameters, i remember some plugin (don't know which anymore) that had around a million of parameters!! (iirc)

I see. But doesn't mu.lab initialize the settings of an VST-module already?
What does mu.lab "know" about the referenced VST-Plugins when I load a session? And where is this "knowledge" stored?

When a session is saved, MU.LAB asks all VST plugins for their settings. Often a VST plugin responds with a single block of binary data that is just a 'black box' for MU.LAB i.e. MU.LAB does not know what it means. On loading a session, the data block is sent back to the plugin, and it knows how to interprete it of course.
