Yes, we also fell onto our faces saying WHAT THE HEK!
Here's our official info:

Unfortunately we have to rename our midi sequencer product Eloquence.
The owner of the trademark Eloquence has been pretty clear about the mighty
power of their lawyers, so we have to do it rightaway, even though their product
(a development environment for business applications) is lightyears away from ours.

We decided for the new name THESYS.

If possible, please spread the news.
The product will be updated to Thesys 1.0.2 on upcoming monday, September 14.

Eloquence is a brilliant name for a midi sequencer. How can they trademark a descriptive term? I am frequently eloquent

- so they should sue me?

Yes, that's what I would like to know too.

Just Googling the term Eloquence get's a lot of different hits like Eloquence webdesign, Eloguence Communications, and several other companies and product names. How about that? If it's a sotware company that's using the term it's not allowed and otherwise it is?

Exact, it's a registered trademark in several countries, in the product group 42 which means "software".

First we scratched our brains off, then we contacted some pretty cool lawyers who told us that we should change the name or have big pain.

Even names which are close to "Eloquence" like Eloquencer or Eloquenz would
cause us big trouble due to the similarity.

In the end, that company which owns the trademark did not like to talk, which is a shame from our point of view, but we can understand that they want the name exclusively since they bought it from another company, including the promise to keep the name exclusive. They must have seen us rising in google and so took out the guns.

Actually, I kinda like the name Thesys better anyway, but I'm sure it's quite the PITA for a company to have to change a product name, re-establish name recognition, etc.

I am not yey a user , i want to buy effectrix but i need the swing oprion , if not its kinda useless for me

and eloquence , i mean thesis , i need to record my own stuff , and i will wait for that fix ;D
