I just stumbled upon the website for Steven Slate Drums (Kontakt sample libraries) and I was super-impressed with the quality of the kits in the demos and a little disappointed that I've bought so many other drum sample libraries and never even noticed this one. Even more, as I play a Roland TD-10 V-Drum kit (okay, I have two acoustic kits too), this seems great, as it is mapped for Roland V-Drums. The idea of a drum sample library ready to go with my V-Drums is very appealing (the hi-hats can be a bit of a hassle midi-wise).

Is anyone using this product that would care to share their experiences and opinions? Even more, is there anyone using Steven Slate Drums with a Roland V-Drum kit? How would you compare it to other drum libraries/VSTs such as ezDrummer, Superior Drummer, BFD 2.0, Ocean Way Drums, Addictive Drums, etc.

Thanks,
eDrummist

I swear by these drums. Best sounding drums out of the box, IMO. And it's grown quite a bit in version 3. Here is the link to the main SSD discussion here:

It starts off talking about version 2, and then goes into version 3, which is what is out now. Great stuff, and worth every penny. And at NAMM, they were playing SSD on some V-Drums and they sounded amazing. So if that's how you play, this may be perfect for you.

Thanks guys. I suspected this was something very, very good. That's why I'm kicking myself for buying libraries that are not round robin and V-Drum ready. Okay, I know what my next purchase will be.

i quite like Steven Slate drums, but actually he's the only one thats still stuck to physical shipping only. And thats a no-no for me, sadly.

Not having an online delivering system sounds a bit shabby today, in all honesty.

Btw. MDrummer is VDrum ready too. Moreover you can have acoustic, electronic and "weird" drumsets too... drumset merging...
To be honest, as a drummer I tend to use combined acoustic + electronic kits more and more. It just feels good...

I've been trying the free version of SSD and the problem I have with it is that it seems way too quiet in the DAW I use (Tracktion Waveform), even with the 'instrument volume' up full. Users of other DAWs have found the same. It's possible that I'm missing some setting or other, but I don't think so. After rendering the drum track, however, I can more or less get the volume of the track to how I need it.
