With tools like Voxengo MSED you can increase the side-level of your material. So you have a better stereo image although you dont need to work with phase errors like with plugs like betabugs widebug. But its cool to put this plug on the side-track.

Personally I dont like wideners period. They usually cause more problems than they solve,- worst case scenario is your vocals, snare and kik drum all of a sudden are gone when played on mono equipment!

Jonnysuns tip with MSED should be cool though.
