i'm looking for guitar samples....any ideas where to find some good free samples...pref samples that are for single strings as opposed to chords etc

inca1500, i started out like you a while back and got into the free sfz and the above mentioned Geoff Khans Ultimate Guitar Kit which is free .(he is now known as GregJazz)
That is a pretty good start but i collected a bunch of other free samples too. The problem i found was that most were out of tune or were sampled badly in one way or another.
I ended up buying the Manytone Manyguitar VSTI ($89.00)and i have never looked back. It so happens that Gregjazz who made that guitar kit now works with Manytone and made some samples for Manyguitar and also he made the ultimate bass kit which is available for $29 from manytone and loads into manyguitar. So this is the proffesional stuff and it is all in tune and sampled very high quality. I think Manyguitar has 1.2 gig of sampled guitars and you get a guitar amp and synth interface with it.
thaught you might like to know my thaughts as i just did the same thing as you and i am loving my manyguitar. i know it is not free but it has saved me more than $89 dollars worth of headache trying to get it right.
