Hi

where can I get a Free VST sampler /sample player that plays the same sample throughout the pitch range as opposed to a drum sample player which plays each note as a different sound?

Paax should do what you need (look in the instrument drop-down top right)

All samplers will play one sound across the whole keyboard if you set them up to. Just adjust the keyrange for the sample.

Have you tried CyberFree? Available from the creator of EnergyXT - http://xt-hq.com/download. I haven't tried it myself but I hear it works well.
