Hi, I'm new here and real new to the software synth field

I have a question for the pros.

Does anyone know what synth made the groove in the Sound Factory song "Understand This Groove"? Circa 1990?

It's a pretty standard sound with the old school house music out of Chicago. And what soft synths could produce the same sound?

Thanks in advance

This song is a bit obscure, I now.

Pointing to a (preferrably small) clip would certainly help then!

Without knowing the song I'd say chances are about 50% you can make a sound very alike with about any virtual analog synth like e.g. Synth1. That is, once you know how to get it under your control...

Guesses for the other 50% include: an FM synth, usage of a vocoder, a mangled sample.

God I love the old stuff.

So are you asking about the piano chords? Get the Korg M1 emulation - pretty sure that's the one, right?

There's a few soundfonts @ hammersound (the hitsets 1-4) that have all the old skool rave/house sounds. They are listed under "Miscellaneous" and begin on page 1 spilling onto page 2. If you want a soundfont player, go here and grab http://www.rgcaudio.com/sfz.htm sfz, it's free. As far as what synth made it....i don't have a cluueeeeeeeeeeeeeee. :P
