roman.i wrote: Tue Apr 23, 2024 3:39 pm To my ears Audiority deleight is how a delay should sound like (I have it), but the plugin ergonomics are awful.
I also have:
Replika XT - good one, but not exactly the sound I'm after, excellent ergo, need to test it again...
Daw delays in Logic - awful sound
Comeback kid - doesn't sound good, and preset manager is non-existing - basically an os window.
Waves - no way I'm installing this, even that I have the bundle. Though, H-delay is nice.

Eye on:
Echoboy - have to test.

Also tested and didn't like:
Valhalla delay
BX 2500
Echoboy like many SoundToys are not bad but outdated

Finally someone doens't like Valhalla delay. Please be my friend :D
:hihi: Felt the same. Never liked the sound of Valhalla.
Well... I'm in that boat too. They sound "too much sugar and extra spice" to me. Exaggerated.

With a lot of things, I wonder why they are so hyped here. Probably rather because of the price, and the attitude, than for the actual sonic quality.
Simple. It cheap as a multi purpose delay
To me it doesn't sound as a tape delay at all, or a BBD dealy
Just to say I don’t like the sound of VDelay either
VDelay ?

My most used delays these days are the tape echo's. i make mostly vintage retro music. hope that helps.

Well while I'm here making myself look like a complete idiot I might as well comment on this delay thing.

I have several. I like the fact I have several, different tones and textures for different types of projects. There can even be some subtle differences in digital delays that are worthwhile exploiting.

Some may be clinical, that's great when there's too much stuff going on already or maybe you want something to sound more digital and clinical, like a scene in crime lab. Conversely, some tape delays are better for certain type of textures than others. Some might give you a more lofi vibe, some may be more edgy and distorted, These differences can be exploited too. Maybe lofi is more melancholy while distorted is more angry.

Then there are the delays that cover all these basis, such as Echoey or H-Delay, they're great multi-tools and are useful if you dont really know what you want. Just remember it's there Analog dial H-Delay to change its emulation type.
