If you want to play with a streamlined version of Bazille, any issue of Computer Music magazine I believe still comes with BazilleCM in the plugin library...

I have Sony Pictures SFX CDs, and I load those into a samler in Waveform. BOOM, instant Foley.
For flat-out weird shit, I find Crystal is good, along with Padshop Pro.
Those certainly work for me so far, in my lame attempt to re-score the silent horror film Nosferatu.

Avenger and Falcon both do a great job of making sound effect sweeteners. Because they let you draw in automation envelopes for various parameters, you can really carve out a good anime noise stab, or retro game coin blip or jingle.
A heaping dose of outrageously goofy synth tracks, scores and chiptunes.
