I am running Debian 12 with a liquorix kernel on a AMD Ryzen 9.
I tried to install live 12 Suite with wine using Win 10 on it. It installs, I can start it, got even a sound, but regularly breaks down.

Anyone an idea, how to get it run?

Hi. I suspect you'll need a recent wine-staging from winehq.org (fully uninstall what you have now before installing it.) It's just a few copy/pastes in a terminal to have the staging version installed.
Same for trying the newest 'stable' version. Staging is a testing version, maybe 1 in 15 releases will
make trouble. So I always keep a working system, and test all 'updates' on other drive installations.

Then use synaptic to install your OS version of the Vulkan video setup. You'll also need wineasio,
and run two successfull commands (which will confirm the results):

wine64 regsvr32 wineasio.dll
wine regsvr32 wineasio.dll ...wineasio should then be chosen in Abletons asio driver list.

I also suspect you'll need an nvidia graphics card, and the official nVidia driver, not the linux nouveau version.

If all that runs Ableton 'good enough to use', your choice of plugins will exclude some with troublesome registration and/or copy protection schemes. You can also demo the linux versions of
Bitwig, Reaper, and Harrison Mixbus. Each has unique capabilities that are worth knowing/using.
You can install linux to an external usb drive, like an SSD in a usb case) without destroying a windows installation, so Ableton remains there as needed. Hope this helps.

I have quite a few 32 bit favorite plugins, and for them, I use both linux Reaper with the yabridge plugin wrapper, and the windows Reaper in wine with wineasio.

But there are also some great resource sharing systems for audio, designed to combine output from diverse systems into a central daw. BlueCat have a nice one @ $50, 'Connector' to send audio and midi wherever whenever https://www.bluecataudio.com/Products/P ... Connector/

They also have a free version called Freeceiver in their updated
free plugins bundle:

I got it running on Debian 12.

Important was getting all vcruns like in the video

I used win 10 in wine. And winetricks of course.

It works, but it does not recognize my Steinberg Asio, I use asio4all instead.

That said, I can now leave all other OS. Linux does it all. And it would be easy for Ableton to release an AppImage or so. Do they feel the winds of change?

Congrats on sticking with your project! And thanks for posting the video. I have a few Live Lite licenses, so I'll follow along and try to get one going once my taxes are komplete

Thanks for the info, it will come in handy when I buy a new computer.
Hopefully Ableton will release a native Linux version soon. It already runs on Linux on Push 3 anyway.
