PG8X is an excellent freeware emulation of the Roland JX8P, great for 80s-influenced music. Our free 'Nostalgia' soundset contains 65+ quality PG-8X patches (JX8P SysEx format also included) covering the essentials of Synthwave/80s production. . As PG-8X is freeware, I knew from the start I wasn't gonna charge for these. For years, I slept on this synth and was quite surprised when I finally got around to trying it. The Hard Techno Hellfire WAV sample pack has received a free update, and the update emails went out this morning. This is an old product made back in 2010, before I had an automated delivery system. If you didn't get an email, please contact me.
I had a listen through HTH recently with a more experienced pair of ears (it's been 12 years) and felt a lot of stuff needed an overhaul. Now all the kickdrums hit with more punch and fit better in a mix. Also made slight improvements on some of the hats and claps. The snares...friggin' sucked, so I removed most of those entirely and made some new ones. Lastly, I've added a folder containing 3 130bpm "rumble" loops to place under a kickdrum track.
We'll be sending out other free updates shortly as well:
- DCO-106 "Retro Synths" bank (new patches added, plus a pack of original drum WAVs)
- GX-80 "Cinematic 80s" (working on new patches, plus a pack of original drum WAVs)
