Single or multiband compression?

Personally I will generally use compression, and if there is a certain frequency range that I can’t shape the way I want with dynamic eq I move to multiband compression for finer control

I use a multiband compression when I want the Vocals to stand out from conflicting instruments. Haha! I use it like a brutal-mixer-assassin-newb! I group all the vox, I group all the Inst, then I put a multiband on the instruments and sidechain a band with the vocals group.
