Hi everyone,
I love my akai mpk 261, the only problem is with the mod en pitch wheel, after a very short while they get useless, the pot encoders are of a very bad quality. I cant believe Akai uses such a low quality in all their mpk series.

Did any of you experience this and were able to replace it with a spare part?

I could of course buy it from akai themselves, but then I end up with the same rubbish.

The PB wheel on my mpk49 bust a few years ago, I did some research to replace it but nothing was official, just soldering hacks and jamming springs in. I was equally surprised there's no official repair kit because, as you say, they appear to be using inferior components. I had a similar problem with the pads on this thing, despite them being the 'leaders' of sample drum machines, the mpk49 needed immediate interference (installing extra stuff underneath the pads) just to get them working as we would expect.

Having a quick look today reveals I can't actually find anywhere to guide me through a fix/repair process..

I decided to remove AKAI controllers from my future purchases.

Also, mods, I think this post is best moved to "Hardware (Instrument and Effects)" since we don't have a specific MIDI Controller forum for this kind of query.
