What's the closest thing to Bazille in a real Eurorack?

there's somewhere close to 1000 modules available in eurorack format. i have zero idea what modules would recreate the sound of bazille in hardware and honestly it seems a whole lot simpler (and cheaper) to just use bazille.
also, you can throw polyphony right out the window because it's really just not gonna happen in eurorack in any kind of meaningful way. polyphony in eurorack is a super big pain in the ass to patch up and you'll encounter other types of limitations. there's a couple options but imo modular is much better at multitimbrality than it is at polyphony
there are several digital oscillators and if you use PD or max or supercollider or similar there are some module that will run those patches so you could potentially make your own oscillator but the digital ones available are really great.. analog too. you can modulate anything w/anything at audio rates so FM is playground in eurorack.
if this is something you really are interested in i would forget about emulating bazille and would just focus on the different types of synthesis you are interested in. find the oscillators and filters you like the sound of and start there.
there's numerous kinds of CV generation/manipulation and many different interfaces to appeal to different users.

Four of these might be the best basis for a mono-hardware-Bazille, but that's a couple of grand blown already, and it can't do half of what the Bazille oscillator can. I think you might be better off with the polyphonic software

i wouldn't go w/four of the same oscillator. the hertz donut MK3 is amazing though. really nice morphing FM because you can morph between presets.
a combination of analog and digital oscillators would probably be better. malekko/richter Oscillator II, a pair mannequins Mangrove oscillators.. they have a unique FM character.
there's a lot to explore just in oscillators. there's so many good ones.

All that still is not close to Bazille!toonertik wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2020 10:05 pm Envelopes: This one is intreresting.. https://www.modulargrid.net/e/klavis-quadigy

How's this guy: https://www.modulargrid.net/e/racks/view/1110569
Damn. That would be a hell of a synth.

may simplest to ask Urs about the inspiration for the filters and then go from there.
there's so many eurorack filters both analog and digital. i can only comment on the filters i like. i've not compared any to bazille's filters.
malekko borg and boogie, tiptop Z2040, topobrillo Multifilter (just announced a MK2 of the multifilter), industrial music electronics bionic lester MK3, livewire frequensteiner, doepfer a106 xtreme filter and the a108 low pass also the analogue systems 120 comb filter.
i'm more into low pass gates and wavefolders these days though.. filters i use more like EQ or sine generators.
still would be a tough thing to hunt down. the simultaneous outputs of all LP/BP/HP in 24/12/18 would be tough.
the mapping generators/modulation sequencers would be a tough thing to set up. you'd need several different modules to even get close i think.
really.. someone would be better off just designing a system w/o trying to mimic software. there's a lot of great modules out there.

For modulation Seq the MD is cool... not the same BUT.. and CD

Interesting sequencer... has a few tricks.. I am still discovering more each time. Lots of variety with seq2 moding seq1 etc.

Yup... my synth is unique to me... not trying to be anything else but the instrument I want. Too many modules to choose from though... I mean...
want them all

there are serge modules in eurorack format that are legit serge circuits. Serge Tcherepnin is involved in their creation. Random Source Serge is eurorack. The serge wave multuplier is one of my favorite things on the planet. serge is stuff great regardless of which format.. but since the bulk of it is available in eurorack you can mix and match and expand the palettenilhartman wrote: ↑Thu Jan 23, 2020 10:43 pm Because of the examples I’ve heard and my love for Bazille (and what I tend to coax from it) I’m strongly considering going Serge.
you can get them as DIY kits if that's our thing or factory built.

i tend to think in functions and find modules that achieve a function i need/want and then find the bet thing for that. there is something about making a system of all one manufacturer though. you buy into the philosophy of what makes an instrument. theres so many great oscillators around though. i like having varying types of sound sources. eurorack is great for that.. sequencers too.
